ELEVENS

Named after guitar string gauge size, a happy accident when Tony Barrett strung his newly bought acoustic guitar with a set of 'Elevens' instead of the standard 'Twelves', the Dublin-based acoustic three piece was formed in 2009 by Martin McCann and Tony Barrett from two of Dublin's most prestigious Indie bands (SACK and BRILLIANT TREES).

With a knowledge of the recording process, guitarist Mark Healy (THE JOSEPHS) soon came on board to add some tonal colour through his use of various effects pedals to complete the overall sound.

In today’s climate of the harsh and abrasive, ELEVENS have come to soothe the senses with their simple arrangements and unique delivery. Their 3 EPs and single release to date have received universal critical praise and airplay on both radio and TV but it’s in a live setting is where the band flourish.

Preferring the attentive spaces of theatres and pop up venues such as The Unitarian Church in Dublin, ELEVENS have also had the pleasure to perform both upstairs and downstairs at the infamous Ronnie Scotts in London and on June 21st, 2014 The President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins and his wife Sabina invited the band to play at their summer garden party at their home Áras an Uachtaráin in The Phoenix Park in Dublin.

Currently writing new material for their forthcoming debut album, ELEVENS’ acoustic prowess includes Ukulele, Omnichord, and Toy Bells and with the addition of some electronic subtleties they are never too far from the future.
